Galena is a small rural community in Alaska that is located along the Yukon River several hundred miles from the nearest city. It is home to a boarding school for high school students during the winter months and many other native Alaskan civilians. Total population is between 500 and 600 residents.

Galena Bible Church is the only protestant work for many miles and is the hub for most missionary and evangelical efforts in the village. The church is led by Pastor Chris Kopp. Chris is a graduate of New Orleans Theological Seminary and former pastor of Church without Walls in Lafayette, LA. He and his family have been living in Galena for over six years and have led the church to a great season of health and liveliness.

Our goal is to provide financial and physical support to help Chris and his family to continue the work of God in Galena and the surrounding communities.

In 2015, we sent two separate mission teams to Galena. The first team provided assistance in minor projects and presented a plan for recovery ministry at Galena Bible Church. The second team consisted of six leaders from FBC Ville Platte’s Celebrate Recovery group to train and equip Galena leaders to start their own ministry.

Our future efforts will involve continued support of recovery ministry, clean-up crews for the spring thaw and continued financial support of the Galena missionaries.
